A skate park for Handorf

On Monday, September 21,  2020 the time had finally come: it was time for the grand opening of the newly designed skate park at the Vinzenzwerk Handorf e.V. With the start of public use from 6 p.m. on, skateboarders from the north-eastern districts of the city were able to enjoy a contemporary skate park in their neighborhood. Under the direction of Julius Dittmann, managing director of Titus GmbH and Tobias Egelkamp, former project manager of skate-aid international e.V., the concept of a participatory construction site proved to be a complete success.

During the planning, under the direction of skate-aid, young people and interested parties were involved in the project in terms of planning and creativity. More than twenty volunteers from all age groups were involved in the ten-day reconstruction phase and gave the aging area a new face. The motto "Successfully realizing a project together" was lived out at this point and the results exceeded all expectations. After the opening, the professional skateboard team of the Titus Shop in Münster presented not only their skills, but also all the possibilities that the new park offers. In addition, the first skateboard contest on the new ramps and obstacles will take place during the opening week on Saturday, September 26, 2020. On Sunday, October 27, 2020, the skate-aid international e.V. will implement a skateboard workshop for interested newcomers. Such workshops will continue to take place regularly.

This rich program as well as the fast realization of the project would have been difficult to accomplish without the active support of many volunteers. Special thanks go to the patroness Martina Kliemek (District Mayor of Münster-Ost) and Titus Dittmann (initiator & founder skate-aid) as well as Siggi Höing (Warsteiner Brewery) and Vinzenzwerk Handorf e.V. that have supported the project so magnificently. A big THANK YOU to the companies involved in the implementation: S. Born
